Stop fighting with your computer and start making neat stuff! A participant driven, individualized beginner level workshop for those communicating with text and images in print, Web, and presentations.
Start with a simple one-page illustrated newsletter using Microsoft Word and Photoshop Elements, then see how more complex jobs are done with professional Adobe software. Printing, backing up your files, and using photographs are among topics to be discussed and demonstrated.
Bring your Mac or Windows laptop with Microsoft Office plus Adobe software if you have it. You can buy lunch nearby or bring it. May be re-scheduled in the event of bad weather.

Do you need towels, placemats, a runner or scarf? In this workshop you will explore the many possibilities of project design including yarns, colors, weave structure and function of the finished piece. We will write the draft for threading, tie-up and treadling then wind the warp so you can dress your loom at a later date.
Requirements: Some previous weaving experience: advanced beginner through intermediate skills. Bring your own warping frame: limited number available in studio

The \"Bean Pot,\" a 9X9\" round basket with a wire handle, is the first of a three part winter series at Basket Thyme. The pattern is suitable for beginners and participants will learn the basic of basket weaving using oval, flat and round reed of different colors to create a basket for carrying small items.

Participants will select a frame and learn techniques associated with the glue method, selectiong and cutting bark and twigs and framing.

Requirements: Students must be able to wind a warp, dress the loom. Advanced beginner to intermediate skills.

The saying is \"The twills begin, but they never end.\" Such is the variety from 3-shaft used for jeans to plain (left and right), zig-zag,herringbone, bird\'s eye, chevron, single or double or triple point, to rose path and double weave. The versatile twill is also a stepping stone to overshop and complex weaves.
In this five week class we will explore the variety of twill structures with emphasis on appropriate twills for particular projects. This class is also an opportunity to experiment to see how different yarn types and sizes can affect the finished piece.

In this second of two gourd workshops, students deepen their knowledge as they return to design, tool use and safety. Participants will produce a hand crafted gourd with either a traditional Native American design or a design of their own choosing, completed by finishes and painting techniques to achieve the desired look.

This class is suited for beginners as well as those with some level of experience. Students will explore the versatility of acrylic paint which can be manipulated to look like oil or to appear like the washes of watercolor. Those students with a foundation in oils, and who have those supplies, are welcome to use that medium in class. Themes from everyday life as viewed in still life or landscape will serve as subject matter to inspire each student. Emphasis will be on composition, the language of color, dramatic light, spatial relationships and painting techniques.
