The Sacandaga Valley Arts Network is pleased to present regional artist, Pavlos Mayakis. His exhibit, entitled “Serendipitous Confluences” will be on view from September 1 - 29, 2011 at the SVAN Artists Gallery in the Northville Public Library. A reception for the artist will take place on Tuesday, September 13th, from 6 to 8 P.M. It is free and all are welcome. Mayakis' works in a textile based, interdisciplinary media, attempting to “honor the natural flow of nature by playing with both randomness and boundaries; using loom-controlled shibori.. a mechanical resist and dye technique.” He applies paints, dyes and metallics  to cloth with a palette weighted in blues, blue-greens, whites and earth tones.

Mayakis holds an M.F.A. From Goddard College and Certificates in weaving/textiles from Mendocino College. His professional experience spans the country, from New York to California. Join Us on the evening of Tuesday, September 13th  for a fun and interesting reception.
